My entry into the Always Learning Jam #1 . I'd always wanted to learn how to make an on-rails 3D shooter a la Star Fox and, to a lesser extent, Galaxy Force. I did learn how the core mechanics are implemented but also went down a few rabbit holes that put me behind on some days. Shields are shown on the left side. Once they reach zero it's game over. Weapon energy is on the right in green. It will recharge over time.
